And a possible birth record...

subject to verification, but this is the first record that (presumably) matches the names and dates.

For Dan(iel) Harrington B 1834 +/- 4 yrs, somewhere in Ireland, with a father forenamed Wil(liam), I found 1 rcd, 1833, Co. Cork, Charleville RC parish. A view of the detailed record SHOULD show the mother's name. If it is Margaret, then this should validate it as being for your ancestor.

For Wil(liam) Harrington M 1830 +/- 4 yrs, somewhere in Ireland, I found 2 rcds: 1829 (Charleville RC parish), and 1832, both in Co. Cork.

A possible lead

I may have a lead on Daniel Harrington's arrival in the States. I posted a question on a couple of genealogy forums, and got this back:

- 2 marriage records for the father William in co Cork 1829 and 1832-neither is coming up with Margaret as spouse but that may be only because Margaret may be her middle name or a first name she didn't use too often.

-Passenger list records: 26 Aug 1839 Margaret Harrington age 35,Hannah Harrington age 14,Daniel Harrington age 7 and Mary Harrington age 3 all travelling on the "Union Jack" from St George,New Brunswick to Boston,Mass.

That passenger list info matches up with Daniel's age, and traveling with his mother. Hmmm.

Preston M.

My great grandfather, Preston M. (son of Daniel and Rachel):
- Assistant Treasurer and Director of a company called Clement and Stockwell, located at 30 Beekman St. in NYC as of 1913.

New direction

I've been trying to track down histories on Daniel H's and Rachel Clement's children. Trying to dig up info directly on Daniel's lineage has been a fruitless endeavor for a long time. Hopefully, somewhere, the descendants of his other children have done some research.

Another easter egg from dad!

It's funny, I find some clues from discovering queries that my dad posted on genealogy blogs...usually it shows that I'm tying to answer the same questions that he was...at lest I know I'm not researching things that he already knew. (Martha Whedon was Rachel Clement's mother.)

And in this case, I have some information that my dad hadn't uncovered...so progress is being made!

=========================
WHEDON
Other surnames in query: CLEMENT

I am looking for information on Martha WHEDON. I am especially interested in learning of Martha's family, her parents, siblings etc. Martha was born 4 March 1809, died 4 October 1869. She married Daniel CLEMENT 25 February 1832. There were eight children: Caroline, Marvin, James, Rachel, Charles, Jesse, Alfred and Duane. I believe she came from Hebron and resided in Washington Co. (Query posted 12/22/98) George Harrington
